Campus Development Plan

God has blessed us. Over the past several years, we have seen BCA's attendance double. There are a multitude of thriving ministries that continue to meet people's needs, and through our missions program, many lives are being changed around the world as we support more missionaries and missions projects than ever before in our nearly 100 year history. Children, youth, and adults are being won to Christ, discipled in the Christian faith, and equipped to fulfill their life purpose in the world. It's an exciting time to be a part of the BCA family.  But there is so much more God wants us to do...

Winter 2008 Report

Children’s Center

God bless you for investing in children and for building our incredible new Children’s Center.  We’re seeing many new families coming to BCA as a result, and everyone is enjoying the new facilities.

Chapel

The Chapel has been completely renovated.  It is a beautiful, versatile meeting area for seniors and other groups.

Activity Center (Gym)

The Activity Center has a new entry with two sets of double doors, which fold back and are hidden when not in use, but close in the event of fire. Some youth offices have been removed to make room for one set of doors, and the other set will be on the NW corner. We have built a stage, treated the acoustics, and installed an air conditioning unit. We have taken out the skylights on the north side, and refinished the existing floor. We have comfortable new chairs for this room.  The roof has been refurbished, and we now have new lighting, video, and paint treatments.

Worship Center (Sanctuary)

The Worship Center renovation is complete!  We have built two rooms on the SW corner and two rooms on the NW corner of the Worship Center. We have installed new theater seats and new carpeting, and applied an epoxy colored concrete finish to the floor. The sound booth has been relocated to the main floor, the new sound system is installed, and the complete room has been painted.

Restrooms

Women's restrooms will be where the men and women's restrooms are now. The men's restrooms will be where the nursery used to be. Please note that new men and women's restrooms have been added off the hallway behind the platform. That hall corridor has been extended to gain access directly into the Activity Center.

Student Center

The Student Center Café and meeting area have been completed!  The “Attic”, as it is now called, is an inviting, multi-purpose venue for our student services and events.

Building, Believing & Belonging

A Word from Pastor Rob

Whether you’ve been a part of Bethany Christian Assembly for fifty years, or you just joined our family a short while ago, we are in the middle of becoming a part of history as it unfolds with our Campus Development Plan.

As I talk and pray with people in our community, the need for a loving, spiritually thriving fellowship of believers is so apparent. Being able to effectively minister to a searching and hurting population is what this building is all about. Anyone who has walked our halls on a Sunday morning or Wednesday evening has seen that we need more space. The foyer is packed. Every classroom is in use. And the gymnasium is hosting a number of groups at the same time.

The Campus Development Plan is allowing us to expand and upgrade our facilities to meet the growing opportunity God has presented to us. Beyond mere practicality, though, God has moved our hearts to care enough about this community to grow.

Please keep praying and be open to how God might use you in the coming months.

UPDATE:  Super Bowl Sunday will be “Commitment Sunday” at BCA.  For over 4 years, we have been working together to expand our facilities, sharpen our tools, and get ready for more company.  Because of your faithful giving and service, our church continues on a growth trend as evidenced by the numerical and financial historical highs of 2007.  There are many new people joining BCA, many making first time commitments to Christ, and many others plugging into BCA and growing in the Lord. It is an exciting time to be a part of the Bethany family!!

Yet, there is still much work to be done for the Lord!  We must pray and work like never before.  We are in a race against time and against the enemy to expand God’s Kingdom and bring the Hope of Christ to more and more children, youth, and adults.  Therefore, I want you to pray with me about the tremendous opportunity that is now before us.

As a result of our combined efforts, God has worked through us to complete Phase I and Phase II of our Building, Believing, and Belonging expansion campaign.  Now we begin Phase III, the smallest of our three phases to date.  We are at the tail end of our projects, and as a result, we all need to work together in order to finish strong. Phase III features three primary objectives: upgrading our Adult Learning Center , expanding our lobby, and retiring our debt.  Provision of these areas is vital to our ministry and campus development.

An upgraded Adult Learning Center will help us do a better job in educating, training, discipling, and mentoring.  It will also serve as a wonderful venue for wedding and funeral receptions, seminars, workshops, classes, and more.  An expanded lobby will increase our ability to promote ministries, host gatherings, and promote relationships.  And expediting our debt retirement is a wonderful way to relieve our general fund and release monies for additional ministry.

An informational brochure has been mailed out to our members and regular attenders.  Please pray about what God would have you do.  Lisa and I have been praying about it, and are ready to lead in giving.  Bethany ’s “Commitment Sunday” will be on Super Bowl Sunday, February 3.  Please come ready to submit your commitment card by completing the attached form on the Phase III brochure and placing it in the offering.

Thank you for your incredible faithfulness and generosity!

Pastor Rob

Believing, Building, Belonging

Why do we need to expand our facilities?

Over the past several years Bethany’s attendance has doubled. Our ministries have grown, and we are reaching more children, youth and adults than ever
before. And we believe it is God’s will that we continue to grow. As we prepare to welcome more people into our family, we need to expand and upgrade our facilities. We have outgrown many areas of our building, and other parts need to be expanded, upgraded and redesigned.

What will the expansion include?

There are so many things that we could do to further the reach of BCA. Virtually every one of our ministries has ideas on how they could expand
to serve a growing population. Through the work of the Growth and Programs Teams, we’ve identified several key areas that we believe are the most
critical for expansion at this point:

· Land acquisition
· Required upgrades
· Office relocation
· Foyer expansion
· Sanctuary enhancements
· Children’s Center
· Youth Center

Why...? | What...? | Priorities?

Will...? | Why can’t...?

How can I...?

Why were these chosen as the top priorities?

First, there are several basic foundational aspects of expansion that must be addressed. We need more property to allow us to increase our square footage without impacting parking. We need to make necessary upgrades to our current facility infrastructure, such as sewer, fire sprinklers, and fire alarms. By relocating our offices, we can use the valuable space for an expanded and upgraded foyer which can serve as a warm and inviting gathering place that promotes community and fellowship.

Second, in order to grow, we must focus on children and youth. Millennials—those from birth to age 20—account for 31 percent of our community’s population. This is the largest population segment, equating to over 150,000 children and youth within a 12 mile radius of BCA. Our Sunday  School classrooms are at 100% capacity; our nursery is at 115% capacity. We need more classroom space, and we need classrooms specifically designed for  children. Clearly, our ability to reach and serve more families is directly tied to our ability to care for the children and youth of these families.

Will the Capital Stewardship Campaign raise all the funds necessary?

The amount of funds raised through the Capital Stewardship Campaign will depend on our desire and ability to permit God to work through us to accomplish His goals. If we raise more money than initially deemed necessary, it will allow us to enlarge our vision. If we fall short, we may choose to look to other potential funding sources.

Why...? | What...? | Priorities?

Will...? | Why can’t...?

How can I...?

Why can’t the cost of the new facility be funded from our budget?

The operating budget at BCA is used to support our many ongoing ministries. Even though our focus right now is on funding and building an expanded
facility to reach more people, we can’t stop our current ministries during this expansion. On the contrary, our hope is to continue to grow and expand our outreach to the community, even during this exciting capital campaign. Therefore, sacrificing our current ministry for the sake of building facilities will not enable us to fulfill our long-term vision.

How can I support the Campus Development Plan?

Please be praying that God will clearly show you how He wants to work through you to accomplish His purpose.
